For Christmas I got McKay a series of 5 books by the author of the Hunger Games series (Suzanne Collins). They say they are for ages 9-12 but they had good reviews for all ages. Lately I have been reading them to wind down before bed. We recommend.
When we first moved here I applied at an outdoor recreation place for people who have disabilities and they didn't have an opening for me, so they filed my application. I got an email about two weeks ago asking for an updated resume and my hours of availability if I was interested. Of course I enjoy that kind of work, but my current boss is very nice and flexible with my hours- exactly what I need right now. I decided to at least get to the point where I'd find out for sure if it would work. My response from the outdoor rec place this time was that I look like the one for the job except that my hours are not going to work. It was nice of them to include that explanation.
I realized a few days ago that during middle and high school I didn't know what I wanted to do “when I grew up” except that I didn't want to sell stuff, I didn't want a desk job, and I didn't want to go into healthcare (it brought up images of needles and blood). Now I am happy to be in a health care graduate program and working in a hospital office.
This semester I go to fieldwork four hours a week at a catholic school.
McKay is working as a tutor on campus, so his brain is working hard for a long time every day.
Our ward is full of great people, we've really enjoyed it. It's our first married student ward.. I've had a great time playing stake women's basketball.
