These Days

Sunday, Sept 27, 2009
Last night McKay and I went to the homecoming game against Southern Utah University.  Beforehand McKay made pizza  and McKay’s sister and brother in-law and their daughters came over for dinner.  It was our first time making bbq chicken pizza.
I still like my classes.  Sometimes, mainly in ab psych and anthropology, controversial issues get brought up or things are taught in ways that I know are not right or true.  I sit there thinking to myself , realizing they won’t understand and I can’t very well explain myself, because it is something I have worked my whole life to understand for myself.  The gospel has woven its way into every facet of my life, and it enlightens my understanding of everything.  It helps me know what is right and how to make decisions.
Monday
A question formed in my head and I didn't know what to do about it, but I went for a run and started flipping through the talks on my ipod, and not until I got home did I realize one of the talks, in the first few sentences, answered my question!

General Conference weekend!  Our internet is not good here, and we don’t have t.v. stations, so we watched it in our apartment complex lobby.  Sometimes one or two other people are in there too.
            It snowed this week!
It’s amazing, in our apartment I can easily see the top of our fridge, yeah it’s that small.
I have had a couple biomechanics study sessions with a few girls in my lab.  Our teacher thinks we should already know what he’s teaching right now, apparently because the vast majority of students in our class are exercise science majors and maybe they have an order in which they take their classes, so they have already taken kinesiology.  Anyway, I need to study my bum off to get the stuff down in time.

Sunday night I woke up around 2 a.m. sick as a dog.  I felt terrible and strange so I woke McKay up and he gave me a blessing.  He blessed that the sickness would leave my body and I immediately started to throw up.  The blessing got a bit interrupted by that but I felt a lot better after the blessing, for one thing I didn’t feel so weird and scared.  I drank some water and then I threw up more every half hour or so (maybe 8 times) until and beyond there was nothing left to get rid of, which took until I think around 6 a.m .  I kept McKay up and I slept in and called in sick to work and then I started feeling a lot better, thank goodness.

Tonight I came home and McKay surprised me by having dinner all ready, candle and all.  He also did all the dishes!
At the elementary school I work at the teachers are trying to cut down on paper because of budget cuts, so I’m rewriting some worksheets to half page.
I have a biomechanics test tomorrow on muscles and what actions they produce.

I had a dream that I realized I could use notes on the test, and I was like “why did I spent so much time studying and committing this stuff to memory?”  I woke up and wondered if it was real for a while.
I walked out of the test and was going over questions with a kid in my class, and I realized I had totally gotten an easy one wrong, but at least I understand it eh?
I like walking into the USU library and seeing the words “And with all thy getting get understanding” from Proverbs.
I checked on Facebook last night to see which of my friends are engaged, suddenly married, out of the country or on missions, and I told my friend how much I need to stay in better contact with friends, and she told me she is basically engaged!  She just turned 21, and has always wanted to go on a mission but didn’t feel like she should when it came down to it, and she tried out and interviewed for a bunch of things she wanted to do, but somehow knew she wasn’t going to do them and didn’t get accepted into any of the things (amazing, because she is quite talented).
I got to play soccer with some of my friends from St. George and make some new friends!

This weekend has been fall break and the weather has been beautiful!  We did homework and housework (finally got those mini blinds degrossed in this apt we're rentingJ.  We went to 2nd dam yesterday morning for less than 2 hours but it was a great break!  McKay fished while I checked out the trails on foot (beautiful!), and we got a camp fire going (with the wood we’ve had in our trunk for over a month) and we roasted hot dogs for breakfastJ  We gathered some fall leaves and left  just as the sun was about to hit the reservoir, the same time bunches of people were showing up.
We were at the park down the street throwing a Frisbee, and McKay’s sister and her family happened to be out for a walk around the park at the same time, which has happened before, not that we go to the park very often.
I am enjoying my job, but it’s funny that I ended up at an elementary school as far away as I did, when there’s an elementary school a few houses away.  I usually take the bus, though, to save gas money as well as have a walk nice walk to and from the bus.
Over the break I also made some bread (only the second time I've made bread (besides sweet bread) since we got married).  And yummy granola!  Too bad I didn't measure anything out or keep track of handfuls of stuff I threw in- I am related to my mom and sister Rachel.
