Promise I tried to write, and it didn't save twice so here I am trying to recall the past few weeks.
We visited a warmer land for Thanksgiving Break! We made the drive down in a little over 5 hours, and the way back wasn't much longer. We spent Thanksgiving day at my parents. Emily's family was there (they live down the street), JJ, and my mom invited a friend last minute whose family was out of town. I like to think I'm getting better at not overeating Thanksgiving dinner, but I haven't been doing so well the rest of the time...
The Thanksgiving pies were extra-good this year. The pumpkins for pumpkin pie were grown in Em's garden, the pecans in her yard, and the apples were from Farmers Market from Orderville.
My friend let me ride her Morgan horse (named Morgan:) and we went on a trail ride. Then she let me over for Thanksgiving leftovers for lunch and we ended up walking around the Bloomington circle and down by the river- she thought it might be her first time walking it, so that was very exciting haha.
My husband's family thought they were over a sickness that had been running through their whole family, but McKay got it. Luckily it doesn't seem to be a very long-lasting illness.
I feel like I watched too many movies, but at least I got some homework done. Holy cow we watched Angels and Deamons (too much killing), Nemo (it's part of an assignment for me), I, Robot, together, and McKay watched two more since he was sick.
We went with McKay's family to the red hill area. I can still fit through the "narrows," at least.
Time to endure to the end. Only one week of class, finals week, and then we go back for my friend Katie's wedding and stay for about 3 weeks! It's a long Christmas break this year from school, and both of us have jobs through the school, so we won't be working over break really. It's nice to have time to visit our families, but we were worried about not earning money during an expensive month. Thankfully, his old boss asked him to work on his work website, since he knows nobody else will do as good a job for the wages.
McKay's birthday is coming up quick!
We got a flat tire, and thankfully McKay noticed it before we needed to drive, so we had time and tools. There was a nail in it, but thankfully again, we had a warranty for our tires on us and the shop was nearby even though I thought it was somewhere else so I got myself into Black Friday traffic.
There was a "Turkey Trot" at the park by my parents' house, and JJ was going to run it so we went down there to watch and couldn't find him. The race started and then he came up behind us. He had already run the course. Then McKay and I "ran" it with him again through the sand. We want to do it next year, so we'll have to be in shape.
Oh yeah, my birthday! McKay said his sister invited us over for dinner, so we went over and there were balloons all over, and we had ice cream and dinner that McKay had bought and his sister prepared. I had told him I didn't want a cake, but I still got to make a wish- they sang to me and I blew out a big decorative halloween candle. McKay gave me head phones for when I go running, I seem to go through those and then they decide they don't want to stay on me while I run. He also got us tennis racquets and tennis balls, so we've played a few times by the college.
We had a pre-birthday party for McKay at his parents' house. His mom was prepared with his favorite kind of cake mix in food storage and he even got some movies to add to our little collection and shared his "Squitos" and M&Ms with his niece and newphews.
His brother who has been home for a few months showed us video of when he and his missions comps ate a cheese with little jumping worms in it. I guess it's like a delicacy there but they aren't supposed to sell it in stores.
I hate Splenda. Tastes like yuck.
