Happy Halloween!

Yesterday I ran my first 5K! The institute put one together anyone could run for free, and we ran around most of campus twice. The first 25 girls and first 25 boys got a free t-shirt. I haven’t been running or anything much, but at the very end I finally passed the girl I’d been trying to get for like a mile, and there were 2 girls on my heels. I came in 22nd, so I barely got a shirt since I beat those girls! I don’t know how many people there were total. It wasn’t super organized and as we were going outside to start, I asked what the route was. This kid started explaining and then we realized the race had started. He still won it all though. It was great, the institute fed us all breakfast, and I even got to eat oranges! Institute rocks.

McKay and I got a bunch of Café Rio for $3 something yesterday because we had some gift certficate left, and our frequent diners card got us a free meal and drink, and I had done a survey so we also got free chips and salsa.

I got to see everybody in their costumes at the Elementary I work at, it was pretty fun and the kids got really hyper once they had changed into their costumes.

This would have been my first year handing out candy on Halloween, except that not a single trick-or-treater came by. I had bought candy, but I guess our apartment complex is kind of hidden. McKay carved a pumpkin. It’s Chubakka (sp?). We don’t have a pumpkin carving set, so he used our kitchen knives and he didn’t think it went so well, but I think it looks really good, and he did it fast, too.

A family in our ward gave us an Aloe Vera plant, which we like a lot! Our plants are our pets since most apartments don't allow animals- before all the aloe veras we had names for all our plants.
