McKay's research program takes a break every day to play 4 square! Sweeeeet.
Last night there was a full rainbow and the sunset was really cool. From McKay's experience in Milan, pollution makes for cool sunsets.
I'm taking care of my brother's family's dogs for a few days. McKay stayed for his research program and we have one car so we'll be apart into the weekend. We've only been apart for one night since we got married until now. While I've been home he's been one of the first few students to leave the research program in the evening after the professors leave, but since I'm not there to go home to anyways, he is packing both lunch and dinner to take to campus so he can work late.
Today I went for a run that ended up being 1.5 hours- probably one of my longest runs plus I was in a hurry to get home. I got up the gumption sort of last minute to go, since I needed to shower anyways I always figure I might as well work out. I tried out a new trail and it took awhile to get to an exit where I wouldn't be passing "NO TRESPASSING" signs. I feel like I naturally run faster on trails, and I feel myself smiling randomly sometimes, haha!
Relief Society rocks. I made cookies with white bean puree in place of most of the butter for our "health fair" last night. I enjoy learning time saving, thrifty, healthy, etc. ideas from experienced moms. My ward has started a great tradition of anyone bringing stuff they want to get rid of, and anyone can take whatever they want. I resisted decorations and such since we are moving soon, but I picked up some good shoes that cleaned up nice:) I love hand-me-downs! The stuff that is left is donated to D.I. Good deal all around.
I got my dental work all taken care of and went to the grocery store with half my head numb mahaha. It's weird that we pay so much money to be tortured. The hygienist (that’s a word whose spelling I look up) told me to look in the mirror and drink from a straw. I would hate her job but it WAS even more fun to make faces in the mirror than usual.
I got re-certified in CPR so I can go to school this fall. The hospital charges mucho mula but a pool let me do it for free- yay! The facility was locked, but while I considered climbing the fence a super-maintenance-man with a key let me in through the pump room. Everyone besides me was a lifeguard who gets drilled on CPR often, so I was stammering and fumbling and slowing everyone else down. Plus I always feel a little goofy at first tapping a plastic dummy bust and asking "sir, sir, are you okay?" etc.
A few days ago I couldn't decide where to run, and I saw two guys maybe 40 years old, and one was pretty overweight. I figured I had better be able to keep up with them. They kept a pretty easy pace but went pretty far. Yep, I followed about 75 yards behind them for about 40 minutes. Maha I would be weirded out if someone followed me that long. I didn't even know if they'd noticed my presence, but I jumped on a dirt trail I came upon and it ended up being a shortcut to where they were headed! It dumped me out in front of them and I heard "He-Hey" and it wasn't quite as fun from there because I was trying really hard to stay far ahead of them while going up hills while trying not to look back every minute to see how much distance I had on them.
I have a hard time keeping surprises from my husband. I get excited about it and want to tell him, plus it's weird and hard to keep a "secret" from him, even though it's a good secret!
Thankfully my dad all of a sudden got a surgery appointment and before I knew it they said it seemed to go well! Whew and thank heavens! Their insurance even helped out with it:)
